colour that was over-ridden Explanation: I regularly encounter this term in similar contexts, and it is always a headache. Sometimes, the best way is to paraphrase, e.g. "By default, the colour is forced to blue"; but that won't work in all cases, and this might be one way for use in one of your instances: "the colour that was over-ridden during initialization" etc. It's easy if you need to say "forced (to a particular value)"; but less so if the value isn't mentioned. I agree that it is found a lot in translated FR texts, but I always feel a little uncomforatble using 'forced' systematically in EN. |
