Explanation:
I regularly encounter this term in similar contexts, and it is always a headache.

Sometimes, the best way is to paraphrase, e.g. "By default, the colour is forced to blue"; but that won't work in all cases, and this might be one way for use in one of your instances: "the colour that was over-ridden during initialization" etc.

It's easy if you need to say "forced (to a particular value)"; but less so if the value isn't mentioned.
I agree that it is found a lot in translated FR texts, but I always feel a little uncomforatble using 'forced' systematically in EN.

Asker: Thanks Tony. I think it's the other way round and that it's about using a colour that overrides the general colour settings, including those in other software if other users open it in different software. However, I did later come across the use of the term "forced" in conjunction with something else in BIM/AutoCAD. So, I ended up using "forced colour", though I was not altogether happy with it, but I had to deliver the translation.

Asker: Thanks Johannes. I think that is the general meaning, but I don't think that's the best way to put it. This also needs to specifically relate to a BIM/AutoCAD software environment.
