piano hinge Explanation: On the basis of your description given above. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2019-10-01 16:32:45 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Ah, but your description above does not correspond at all to the picture you link us to! That is indeed a form of 'pintle hinge' -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2019-10-01 17:34:38 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Ah yes, your description of "running the full length of the door" was misleading; in that case, this obviously could not be correct. |

drill-in hinge Explanation: I cannot take credit for this suggestion, which comes from a most knowledgeable well-wisher who is sadly no longer a member here. Apparently he found this some time ago, and notes that there are still some examples to be found on Google. It certainly describes very well the type of mounting, which is really what is unusual about this type of hinge. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 days 16 hrs (2019-10-04 07:47:16 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Ah yes, I see what you mean: this would apply to the smaller, individual variant, but perhaps not so much to the full-length version. |
