Anyone who understands it, to start with, will know it is measured in cubic metres. It may simply be a long-winded way of referring to the "volume habitable" ("living volume" ?) of a particular apartment. The "volume habitable" is the product of the floor space of a dwelling and the ceiling height, excluding areas where the ceiling height is less than 1.80m, recesses, stairwells, etc. For new dwellings "la surface et la volume habitables d'un logement doivent être de 14m² et 33m3 au moins ... pour les 4 premiers habitants, et de 10m² et 23m3 par habitant supplémentaire au-delà du quatrième". |
