Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi akretchefazia, Thanks for your contribution. However, DEA is not the issue at stake. It is just part of the context.

neutral  Karine LE MOIGNE: DEA is a "Bac+5" degree so it is an equivalent of a modern Research master (the term stopped being use after the LMD reform, for Licence/Master/doctorate).

neutral  Nikki Scott-Despaigne: Not all "bac+5" are research masters BTW. ;-)

It is a graduate qualification, but I am not sure to what degree it could be equivalent. Among other things, it would depend on the jurisdiction.

agree  Karine LE MOIGNE: AEA are certificates that were required to register for a DEA after a "licence". See explanation here: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplôme_d'études_approfondies#...

agree  Nikki Scott-Despaigne: Yes, post as an answer maybe as titles of qualifications cannot and should not really be translated; translators are not qualified to stand in the shoes of an equivalence commission, which is something we have to be really careful of. See discussion post<
