Just guessing, but could it be anything to do with the way that you used to get money back on empty bottles by taking them back to the shop so they could be (presumably) washed and used again by the same manufacturer? As opposed to just having the empty glass bottles go to waste? I can't remember the correct term for this in English however, and the French term only brings up 10 Google hits, so does not seem to be widely used. More context always useful though, as Phil says ... |
