Surely a 'match' is usually some form of organized sereis of games, but can hardly be used to refer to the actual type of game itself?

Tennis is a game, it is often played in matches, each match being broken down into sets, each of which in turn consists of a number of games.

having gone into my "jeux" application, and examined it, I think that I would indeed use 'game' and 'game' in that context (chess, solitaire, mah jong etc...) how about 'individual game' for 'partie'?

I don't see that makes any difference; in all the examples you cite, 'game' alone would be completely unambiguous in EN. Only in the one where the definitions are given are you likely to have a problem — not really ambiguity, but just that it will sound silly!

You might be able to say something like "The term 'Overall game' is used to refer to the various games on offer, while 'game' refers to an individual game within any one of those games."

I need separate words because they appear in the Legal Notice, Terms and Conditions, etc.. I cannot differentiate them using the singular vs plural because of legal reasons.
BTW, the word "Contest" ("Concours") also appears in a legal context.

I'd say not... to me, a 'session' would refer rather to the time period where the player was playing, which might consist of several games, and indeed, playing other games too!

Think of the game of chess: I and my friend enjoy playing the occasional game, and I have a chess programme on my PC so I can even play a game against the computer.

To questions about the kind of game it is, - no, it's not a card game nor a game involving any other players. It's basically the player against the game application. I was also thinking of "session". Would that fit?

Of your own suggestions, I find "round" the most suitable here.
"Set", to me, suggests several games, like in tennis, rather than a single game. I would certainly try to keep "game" for "jeu".
Of course, it could depend on the type of game in question.
