I have checked the term is already there in glossary as " leave of absence"
Is it precisely "loss time from work" ? a right but not an obligation?

sick leave

Explanation:
Although that seems quite a colloquial term, it is widely used for time off work officially recognized as being due to injury or illness.

time off work

Explanation:
"Leave of absence" also seems fine to me. The worker could have come into work, but was not well (flu, hangover etc.)

disagree  Tony M: Too general, as could apply to ANY kind of leave; an 'arrêt de travail' is specifically for health reasons.
