French term or phrase: poste avec du terrain
This is from a profile of a potential employee for something along the lines of a site production/operations manager. It seems to be an internal document as part of the hiring process.

Since it seems like a site management position, in this case terrain doesn't seem to refer to sales territory or work "in the field". I found a couple of other examples online that seem to suggest something related to a job with lots of variety, or maybe responsibility? for ex:

Could anyone give me a better understanding of this term, and particularly how to render it in English?

Many thanks in advance!

job with high degree of autonomy
Explanation:
My idea is "autonomy" in the sense of allowing the employee a certain amount of freedom and discretion to exercise his/her initiative. Below I give a reference to the "business dictionary", which defines this in a similar way.

Explanation:
I understand this to mean a job either involving practical tasks or at least in contact with the company's actual production. The person wants to stay in touch with grass roots, he doesn't want a purely administrative job.
