I found this term "entrepreneur de maçonnerie couverture" in a birth certificate. This refers to the job of the father of the child.

What is the Englsih equivalent of this profession?
Can I translate is as "Masonry-covering Entrepreneur"?

I say this because it sounds like they want it to sound impressive. But you could just say roofer.

agree  nweatherdon: I think "building contractor" would be a more general term appropriate for a birth certificate. Of course the more specific "roofing contractor" is OK too. But usually I would think of "maçonnerie " as something with stones, "roofing" is broader
