French term or phrase: instance technique
two-part question (divided into two separate questions.... see both please!). I am struggling with the exact meaning of *instance* in the two 'instances' below
"Au niveau des partenariats institutionnels, soit la participation à la gouvernance des institutions, la participation à des *instances techniques* et la participation à des *instances d’évaluation*, il est essentiel que les producteurs y interviennent avec les grands défis de l’agriculture ..". Is it clear that the 'instances techniques' are technical bodies/committees? Or could the 'participation' be in the definition of technical (research) questions (I have a mini-summary in English which mentions that farmers should be the ones who define research questions, rather than be asked questions by researchers).... help much appreciated!

thanks again to everyone! In the end I used 'technical bodies' because I think my case is more about ad hoc/temporary bodies in multi-stakeholder projects

agree  B D Finch: Or technical bodies, but not "entities". As an "instance" has decision-making powers, and a body can be just advisory, I think "authorities" is best.

agree  Lara Barnett: I agree with B D Finch. "entities" is TOO generic.

neutral  Julie Barber: I would avoid the word authorities because it makes it sound like something statutory and we don't know that for sure. As you say bodies or decision-making bodies would be better as they are broader terms
