showing that it's a bit more than guessing / assuming / just my personal preferences, there is also the slight "difference" that I never saw it as any kind of "alternative" (/ synonym) to a variant that says nothing.

It's blindingly obvious that you can't use "illegal tender" to pay anything - it adds zero "useful information" so it should start ringing alarm bells - legality is assumed in contracts, you don't need to add reminders left, right and centre.

OTOH there are many cases where you could get shares without having to pay for them in full, or when you can get shares without spending a single penny - in exchange for all sorts of "payment in kind" - so specifying that offered shares have "to be paid in full and with money" does add useful information and it makes sense in a contract.

and "paid in full and in cash" is not in any way "an alternative" to a variant that misses a key point - it's simply THE right translation.

It could be just one of those tautologies that can be reduced to either in cash or in legal tender.

However, one alternative could be paid upfront and in cash, as upfront seems to be one of the possible translations of comptant.

One of the definitions of up-front on dictionary.com is "invested or paid in advance or as beginning capital." Would that make sense?

It would seem that they're emphasizing that securities have to be paid in full, up-front and in cash (i.e., not in installments, via other credit instruments, etc.).

So another alternative could be paid in full and in cash.

Note to Mpoma. I think the point the contract is really making is that the subscription for the shares has to be in money and not a contribution in kind.
