French term or phrase: débouter
Here is a term I've come across before to mean 'dismiss' in a legal sense, but this wording is sending me up a tree. It's in the attorney's summation for the defendant, a company, while 'Monsieur X' is the plaintiff:

Does it mean to turn the plaintiffs away from their action, or to dismiss it, or something else again?
