French term or phrase: surface de sortie
Hi everyone -

I am translating a patent application for a turbine engine.

Here is an excerpt where surface de sortie (as well as sortie) appears. I am looking to translate the term into English.

disagree  Tony M: Could never be right! To start with, 'sortie' only means 'way out' when it's an 'issue', usually for people; we don't use it in technical senses, above all, not in a formal register. 'expanse' is the wrong sense for a simple 'surface' — implies size.
