Silastic vessel loop Explanation: 2 things first: 1) lac should be lacs... In normal, non-medical parlance it means a snare, loop, slipknot. The idea is of a noose that can be tightened to cut off blood flow or leaks, or as a retractor to keep blood vessels out of the way during surgery, so tape, band etc are perhaps not wrong but not specific enough. 2) Silastic: a TM of Dow Corning, so should really be capitalised. Silastic materials used in surgery include tapes (bandelettes), sheets (plaques, lames), slings (frondes)(very common), and loops, as here. Reference: http://uk.medline.eu |
