Medical - Medical: Instruments / computer assisted arthroscopic surgery
French term or phrase: report
This is an instruction manual for computer guided bone surgery. Here are the different contexts in which it appears.

1. Coupe 4 en 1 avec report d’espace
2. Équilibrage ligamentaire en extension et report de
gap

I know that 'reporter' can be a tricky word meaning a variety of things, but I want to be sure I understand its specific use here, so all ideas are welcome. (For example, is this simply 'extension' as in 'extension gap' or 'gap/space assessment' or 'carryover'?)

transfer
Explanation:
I don't really think that "transfer" is exactly the right word here and hopefully someone will be able to come up with something better. Your sample phrases already use "mesurer" and "enregistré" and this suggests to me that the "report" is something that takes place after this measuring. It is all about balancing and symmetry. Does your text refer to flexion as well as extension? Something along the lines of transfer, matching, reproduce, copy, recreate, etc.?

This article, though not originally in English, conveys this sort of idea:
Gap-balancing in TKR is reported by the use of a navigation unit, a minirobot and an integrated force controlled ligament tensioner.
Then the measured flexion gap is transferred to the extension gap. After achievement of a full extension (Fig. 7) and of a parallel gap configuration (Fig. 8), the measured distances of the medial and lateral extension gap are transmitted to the program (Fig. 9). If a parallel extension gap is not achievable with about 100 N, ligament releases are carried out.

This French article gives a good description, with useful images. A gap is created, then measured, then "reporté".

Joint Line Changes After Navigation-assisted Mobile-bearing TKA
A laminar spreader that could separately adjust the medial and lateral compartments was inserted to determine adequate collateral tension in extension and at 90° of flexion. These coordinates were then recorded and the femoral cutting block was oriented to achieve equal extension and flexion gaps. Sometimes thicker inserts were needed to match the gap.

I gave this a great deal of consideration and decided it is safest to choose this concept. I used the word transfer itself since I had originally thought it might mean carryover. I appreciate Liz's extensive input and help. It truly clarified my thinking and all these references were very helpful with an incredibly complex text. Thank you Alison, Joanne, Liz and Ségolène for taking the time for this.

Explanation:
IMO (and my visualization of this knee surgery), the use of "reporter" and "reportant" in items 3 & 4 could be used in the sense of "refer to something"...
