shot types Explanation: Just repeating my earlier answer (see previous KudoZ: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/french_to_english/cinema_film_tv_d... ) in order for it to be registered here as a possible option. Generally, we talk about 'shots' — a 'close-up (shot)', a 'wide shot', a 'long shot' — and the one they talk about here the ghastly 'plan américain' or 'American close-up' (horrid!); it's a lazy shot that is more tolerant of sloppy camera operating and/or playing around with the aspect ratio between film / TV etc. Exists for historical reasons, but in my artistic opinion, should be banished forever! |

Types of framing Explanation: Traditional or Classical portraiture would refer to an image where face is the predominant element. The purpose of the photograph is to depict visual representation of that person. Subject is expected to be looking directly at the camera.
