French term or phrase: en ménageant radialement
Context:

The translation proposed is as follows:
The inner female body 22 surrounds the ring 28, i.e it extends radially on the outside of the ring 28, leaving radially between the female inner body 22 and the ring 28 an annular volume V22 to accommodate the male body 2 when the latter is fitted into the female element B.

No idea how the translator has come up with "leaving radially" and no idea what the source is trying to say, unless "creating" would fit the bill.

Creating an annular radial volume??

TIA Chris.

radially leaving
Explanation:
The annular radial volume referred to would be the loose ring-like volume between the two ring-like bodies. So leaving and creating would both work IMO. However, the word order "radially leaving" sounds more like something I would read in physics textbooks than "leaving radially".
