French term or phrase: surface développée
vs superficie au sol in the following context:

L’Apport inclut l’ensemble immobilier à usage industriel et de bureaux annexes, d’une superficie au sol de XXXm2 et d’une surface développée de XXXm2

My guess is that superficie au sol refers to the land area where the property is located and surface développée refers to the floor area of the construction. Any help is much appreciated!

disagree  Tony M: Whilst that term mighht refer to an area of a town, say, it can hardly be applied to one single property. AFAIK, Asker was not looking for Indian EN; in any case, it is clear from the context that this is not the meaning here.

-> Partially understand your contention. However, for your information, in India it is a standard term in usage in building industry to distinguish land covered by construction from an open space in a plot of land. Could also be referred to as plinth area

disagree  Eliza Hall: That's an interesting point about Indian construction terms. Here, though, it's about the building itself, not the land. It refers to the finished living space (as opposed to, e.g., the area of land occupied or the unfinished basement).
