English translation: a statue of the Holy Trinity

French term or phrase: un groupe de la sainte Trinité
"L'edifice renferme un groupe de la sainte Trinité en bois datant du XVIIe siècle."

The "word" group has thrown me a bit, otherwise I would just say "group of statues".

Also I come from quite a Catholic country and I have never seen one of these groups of statues. (I have never seen the Holy Spirit represented, as far as I can remember.)

Thanks in advance.

English translation:a statue of the Holy Trinity
Explanation:
Not a group of statues but the statue is in itself of a group. Since the idea of group is already in the word Trinity, I don't think you need to translate it.

agree  stolley: I agree, but maybe 'a statue representing the Holy Trinity' would make things clearer!

agree  Gayle Wallimann: No need to translate the word "groupe". Budapest has a very famous "Statue of the Holy Trinity" (the Holy Spirit is represented by a dove).

agree  Yvonne Gallagher: yes, with stolley and Gayle. and of course the Holy Spirit always represented by a dove

agree  David Gosselin (X): Since the Trinity is a "three in one" Christian doctrine (Father, Son, Holy Ghost), I would agree with a (1) statue of the Trinity.

agree  Christopher Crockett: An 18th c. polychrome wood sculpture depicting the three figures of the Holy Trinity.
