resist Explanation: I think these all seem to be forms of resist dyeing. Thus by using (resist) knots (as in tie dyeing) or (resist) stencils or wax etc, part of the fabric resists the dye being applied. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resist_dyeing http://www.vam.ac.uk/content/articles/r/resist-dyed-textiles... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 22 hrs (2019-03-23 12:50:00 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- look at noun definition here https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/resist -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day 20 hrs (2019-03-24 11:20:25 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- in regards to BDF's comment re tie-dyeing, the part within the tight-knot area is a similar resist to adding wax etc. in the other techniques as dye does not penetrate there. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day 21 hrs (2019-03-24 11:45:38 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- Glad to have helped |
