Help please. I have this text, where they refer to the "reserve" all the time.

For réserves par ligature, couture, I cam up with
reserve-dyeing by stitching and tying


Any idea how I could avoid the "reserve-dyeing by" formulation in the following please?

les réserves par froissage, pliage, plissage et ligature ; les réserves nouées ; les réserves cousues à la main (faufilage/fronçage) ou à la machine et les réserves brodées misselini ; la « bougie » (batik) et le Koossi (réserves sérigraphiées).

I think these all seem to be forms of resist dyeing. Thus by using (resist) knots (as in tie dyeing) or (resist) stencils or wax etc, part of the fabric resists the dye being applied.

in regards to BDF's comment re tie-dyeing, the part within the tight-knot area is a similar resist to adding wax etc. in the other techniques as dye does not penetrate there.
