French term or phrase: métier vivant
I am translating website content for a chain of hotels. This sentences appears in a paragraph about one of the hotels and its owners. I'm struggling with the part between *^* and particularly, "métier vivant". the best I have come up with so far is below, but I don't feel it does the French entirely justice. Thanks for any suggestions you have on this Sunday morning ;-) NB: the text needs to read as naturally as possible with suitable tourism marketing register:

Depuis maintenant 6 ans, ils sont passionnés par le contact humain de ce métier vivant et aiment créer des relations durables avec les clients les plus réguliers.

Over the past 6 years, they have demonstrated their passion for people-focused hospitality and they love developing long-lasting relationships with guests who come back time after time.

vivant is an adjective and the meaning is very vivid in English. Métier is also simply known to every one. Besides, it fits into the context.

As others have said maybe the phrase needs re-adjusting in English. The idea, it seems to me, is that it is a job where things are never, the same, where there is no fixed routine and that's what's makes it exciting and interesting.

So here is my suggestion :

"Their job is far from /anything but humdrum: over the past 6 years, the contact with others it involves has been a source of inspiration /excitement (etc.)... "

Just a thought to throw into the mix. On the basis that the Tourism context allows for some freedom...
