Bus/Financial - Tourism & Travel / job title
French term or phrase: responsable réseau
Hello all,
I need help translating this job title: "Responsable réseau".
Thanks in advance for your help!

network manager, partnership manager
Explanation:
Bonsoir Suzanne, vous avez tout à fait raison que "network manager" fait penser à l'informatique, la solution est de préciser le réseau selon le contexte. Par exemple "Hotel network manager" or "Hotel partnership manager".

agree  Tony M: Network Manager is fine, as long as the context make it clear it isn't specifically IT; as John says, if you can qualify it in some way, it will remove and confusion. BTW, more usually Network Administrator in IT I think

agree  SafeTex: I think this is very hard. Network manager is usually IT but is the phrase monopolised by one sector? If the context makes it clear, then network here can be used to refer to a chain of hotels

agree  Jennifer Bouvier: I like this. If the notion of "multi-marques" is important, perhaps "Multi-chain hotel manager/supervisor"

Regional manager

Explanation:
another way to say this would be « Responsable de secteur »

Example sentence(s):
  • Le responsable de réseau met en œuvre le concept commercial de l'enseigne et est garant du respect des dispositions légales et réglementaires dans les magasins de son secteur. Il intervient en appui aux responsables de magasin sur l'organisation, le m

neutral  Jennifer Bouvier: I agree that "Regional manager" works if we're talking about a geographical area. Doesn't quite capture the notion of "multi-marques" for me

Hotel Chain Manager

Explanation:
Because the "réseau" here is a grouping of hotels, from what you've explained. And this way, you avoid the confusion created by the term "network," which is not only a usually a very IT-oriented term, but quite dry and uninspiring, frankly.

disagree  AllegroTrans: This is overtranslation and whilst it may be correct, I don't think it's the translator's job to embroider terms such as this

neutral  Jennifer Bouvier: This is definitely often used, but if i understand Suzanne's question, we're talking about someone who manages several hotels, across multiple different chains. Your answer seems to imply (s)he manages one whole chain.
