agree  Tony M: I think this is the right idea, though I'm not quite sure about the way of expressing it...

-> Thank you. In the Indian railways context, its referred to as the train "Starting point and End point"

rework the sentence

Explanation:
Not familiar with the expression à la maille de, but I tend to agree with Emma P. on a previous Kudoz question that it means something similar to "scale" or "scope". Perhaps "at the level of" or "in terms of"?

Wonder if it's being used here in a quasi-punny or voguish way.

[...] Il est utilisable n’importe quel jour [...] »

Example sentence(s):
  • - a study of train punctuality between stations.
  • - an assessment of scheduled vs actual transit times between stations.

neutral  Tony M: I suspect it actually means 'punctuality from origin to terminating destination' — i.e. disregrading punctuality at the intermediate stops (if any). The only universally-applicable statistic.
1 hr
-> Could very well be, but these trips may be without stops (see my note).

neutral  Daryo: what exactly do you propose?

at the level of [all] journeys between a departure and an arrival stations

Explanation:
i.e. the statistics would show the average punctuality for all journeys between a pair of "departure/arrival" stations, whatever route is taken between them, whatever is the number of stops in between (none, 1, 2 ...)... etc.

A bit more detailed information than the "average punctuality" for the whole network. (i.e. counting all and any journey on the network)

without seeing the actual data, that's what the language used woud imply.

neutral  B D Finch: Grammar! It should be "station": singular. Also, "at the level of" doesn't work.// If you use indefinite articles, it must be singular; however, it would probably be better without them. There is also redundancy in "journeys".
7 hrs
-> I hesitated between "station" and "stations" - which seems more logical because each time there are two stations involved (of departure/of arrival) OTOH "at the level of" is EXACTLY what is meant: level of details / of complexity / of granularity of data.

disagree  Daryo: even if there are 2 or more routes that can be taken between 2 stations, these routes just on their own wouldn't be called a "network".
