Léger fut avant tout Léger, avec une œuvre multiforme, allant de la traditionnelle peinture de chevalet – à fin de recherches personnelles – à la fresque murale – à vocation collective –, des affiches, décors et costumes de spectacles au cinéma. N’hésitant pas à proclamer : “ Oui, je suis un hors la loi du goût ”.

Könnte mir jemand umschreiben, was mit "à fin de recherches personnelles" im Gegensatz zu "vocation collective" gemeint ist? Bedeutet dies grob gesagt, dass er sich gewissermassen aus eigenem Antrieb mit der Gemäldemalerei befasste und die Wandgemälde eher das Resultat eines kollektiven Auftrags waren? Danke für alle Hinweise!
