L'architecture est un champ extrêmement vaste de production culturelle dont ***l’échelle prospective,*** le support matériel varient à l'infini. Au début étaient les salons d'architecture du XVIIIe siècle, avec des aquarelles sur les murs, puis les maquettes s’y sont ajoutées, et enfin les photos sont arrivées. Mais il s’agissait pour l’essentiel d’objets bidimensionnels accrochés au mur, ce qui demeure pertinent pour certains documents. L’enjeu est de permettre les expériences tactiles et spatiales. La position la plus simpliste serait de dire qu’il s’agit de présenter tout ce qu'on ne peut pas voir chez soi sur son écran. Encore que l'immersion commence à pouvoir être obtenue avec des lunettes chez soi. Mais on ne peut pas chez soi voir un objet extraordinairement grand, extraordinairement petit, mou et poilu pour le dire comme Salvador Dali, puant, ou totalement étrange... L'étrangeté de l'objet, voilà ce que les expositions peuvent apporter...
