E’ chiamata così, in Borsa, la tecnica di chi sfrutta la disparità di prezzi che si possono trovare sullo stesso mercato o su mercati differenti per trattare titoli azionari o bond che sono identici o assimilabili. L’arbitraggio è possibile quando c’è “asimmetria” informativa, nel senso che consente agli operatori più “informati” di comprare e rivendere, o viceversa, valori mobiliari traendone un immediato lucro. Altro esempio di arbitraggio è quello dei gestori di hedge funds che operano sulle obbligazioni convertibili in azioni, sfruttando il nesso tra quotazione del bond, valore dell’azione e con cambio.
