agree  M. C. Filgueira: Sí, la expresión "sécondaire a", muy frecuente en el lenguaje médico, indica causalidad: "...fueron causados por un cáncer" (en castellano usaríamos más bien el pretérito perfecto) o, incluso mejor, un enunciado en voz activa, "se debieron a un cáncer".
