Art/Literary - Architecture / church architecture
German term or phrase: Rippenschlussstein / Rippenschlußstein
I'm currently translating a PhD thesis on a medieval Jewish manuscript and book illumination. At one point, the author mentions lions, which were used as a motif in medieval European art in general, it seems, and she has added a photo of a "Rippenschlussstein" in a church in Nuremberg along with a brief caption ("Fig. xxx: Skt. Sebaldus Kirche, Nürnberg. Rippenschlussstein"). And that's it! One mention of the word in the whole thesis, and just a picture to serve as its context.

I've managed to find more photos of this church sculpture using Google Images, but does anyone know what it's actually called in (British) English? I'm not very familiar with architectural terms, but I don't think it can be a "keystone" in this case as some dictionaries say, as that's something quite different (a special stone put at the top of an arch). What they're talking about here is a sculpture at a point in a church where the "ribs" on the ceiling join up (a kind of node in a rib vault).

Here's a link to some images of it:

Hope someone can help.

Thanks.
