German term or phrase: "im Verschwinden begriffenen"
Here is the text, thank for any help - Es gibt die geteilten Schalen auch ohne eigentliche Füllung, die jedoch als mutmaßliche, assoziative Füllung deutliche Spuren hinterlassen hat; im Abdruck solcher Art „verlorener“ Form erscheint uns die Möglichkeit des „im Verschwinden begriffenen“ oder genauer: nur im Verschwinden zu begreifenden sehr bildhaft, und xxxxxx xxxxxxx entwickelt diese wirkungsvollen Bilder weiter über die großen gespaltenen Blöcke der „Menschlichen Abdrücke im Stein“ bis zu den jüngsten keramischen Werken der „Halbschalen“.

Explanation:
This a truly awful job. All I can say is that if this particular sentence had been dumped on me, I'd probably try and write something that sounded vaguely arty, save it, vow never to look at it again, sit down with a box of Pringles and watch an episode of the hugely underrated Titus (starring Chrisptopher Titus)

- The "impression" left by this example of "lost contents" allows the onlooker to visualise the possibility of the something that is in the process of disappearing – or, more precisely, that can only be comprehended as something that is, gradually, no longer where it used to be. -

IOW I don't think you can reproduce the play on the different meanings of "in ... begriffenen" and "zu begreifenden"

agree  Ken Cox: It's not awful, it's art criticism ;-) . I thought of posting a discussion comment to the effect that this relates to mouldmaking with sacrificial patterns and playing on the related German terms, but decided to give it a pass.
