Die breite Steinschale des Schüsselbrunnens ist römisch, auch der Fuß dessen oberer Teil noch das römische Pfeifenmuster trägt, und der Schnürring mit dem antiken Eierstabornament. Der untere Teil wurde achtseitig abgearbeitet, als die Schale 1566 hier aufgestellt wurde.

In der römischen Architektur werden in ähnlicher Weise die Kanneluren im unteren Teil des Säulenschaftes manchmal mit schmalen Rundstäben, sogenannten *Pfeifen*, gefüllt.
