German term or phrase: offener Erwartungsraum
This is from an article describing an exhibition on art and furniture design for a lifestyle magazine. The final room in the exhibition is "einen virtuellen Raum aus interaktiven Bildprojektionen und Klangwelten, dessen Farben, Lichter, Formen, Texturen, Bewegungsmuster und Töne [der Besucher] selbst verändern und gestalten kann."

It then goes on to say:
"Die Bandbreite der optischen Elemente wird vom ornamentalen Schwung des Jugendstils eröffnet und endet im * offenen Erwartungsraum * der Gegenwart."

I can't think of a good way to express "offener Erwartungsraum". Any ideas?

Perhaps something like this would do? I'm sure there are many ways to convey this.

A space open to the potential of the present (day).

Explanation:
Spirit loosely taken up. More of a prompt than an "answer", certainly not final or ideal.

eh? Not what I wrote. The glitch should read,

Nor is mine an ‘answer’. Just a shot in the dark.
