German term or phrase: Strategie der Zitaten
This is contained within a description of Isabel Champion Metadier's work. I'm not sure what is meant by "Zitaten" in this particular context, nor how to best translate it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Es wird einfach die unbegrenzte, uberraschende, verbluffende und verspielte Entfaltung moglicher Bildformationen ins Zentrum des kreativen Prozesses gestellt, ohne irgendeine Intention einer kunstlerischen Strategie der Zitaten oder der Historisierung durch formalen Hinweisungen auf fruheren Kunstepochen.

I think the problem is that the German involves too many nouns and not enough verbs, hence Zitaten > to reference.

I think the German takes a lot of words to say something that can be expressed much more concisely in English. It just means that her art is not visibly influenced by that of other living or dead artists.
