Probably stating the obvious (to all but me) here, but your last e.g., Jeux, seems to be telling, "medium-is-message"-wise. My prompt is Usch's to me, below - 'there isn't a 1:1' Formation - formation, or as I see it, Eng. form'n evokes only a fragment of the German optional range (of +/- frequent, wider, usage, at least). Ger. F- seems pretty adaptable to context, & not alw. v. precise (cgf. bilden, gestalten, & those nouns, etc.). Also consider that Ger. has to use -tion where Eng. also has the gerund -ing option (contrivedly: shapings, then), to call the process of making & shaping to mind in the made & shaped. I confess ignorance of lit. on Indiana, it might even raise Eng. 'formation'/'forming' on one hand and 'formation'/'choreography'/'constellation'/arrangings... (even 'grammar', 'syntax'?) to specific significance within the subject?
