German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Automotive / Cars & Trucks
German term or phrase: Scheibentonne
This is from a set of requirement specifications describing a new design for car windows.

My document isn't terribly helpful with context, but this is available elsewhere: "Neben den Fahrzeugaußenflächen werden der Verlauf der Türfuge und die Fläche der Scheibentonne benötigt, um die Referenzierung des Skelettmodells zu ermöglichen."

A visualization of it is available here: http://vdi.vication.info/media/Vortrag_Mathematik-und-Strak_...
It's also discussed here: https://books.google.de/books?id=n84_UMUvBK4C&pg=PA195&lpg=P...

(Again, neither is from my document or my customer.)

Thanks for any help you can give, even if it's alternative translations for "Tonne"!

The customer finally got back to my query (which included this as a suggestion). While they accepted that suggestion, I'm not sure that there isn't a better translation out there, perhaps directly related to CAD programs as used in designing vehicles.
