work off/ vent/ find release Explanation: In English you vent/ work-off/ find release FROM something, or can be used in the infinitive. Either way, these suggestions would require restructuring the sentence. compensatory response Explanation: .. cues triggering a (conditioned) compensatory response I was initially thinking of “blowing off steam” but that may be appropriate for dogs and humans but perhaps less so for wasps. Another term that seems to get a lot of use in similar contexts is "compensatory (behavioral) response." Fits the bill in my opinion but do ask some experts... |
