Wild marjoram is also known as oregano, though this name also refers to a cross between sweet marjoram (Origanum majorana) and wild marjoram (O. vulgare). Cultivars of both are widely used culinary herbs. Wild marjoram is native to the region stretching from southern Europe to China. It has been introduced in parts of eastern and western North America, and can be quite invasive. Such plants typically lack much flavor, and are not the cultivars commonly used in cooking.

Explanation:
Dost ist wilder Majoran. Majoran ist ein etwas (geringfügig) anderes Kraut als Oregano daher stimme ich der Gleichsetzung Majoran = Oregano NICHT zu, und wilder Majoran wächst eben wild, wogegen Gartenmajoran von Menschen angebaut und gepflegt wird. Daher ist die einzig richtige Definition von Dost "wilder Majoran" und die einzig gute Übersetzung "wild marjoram".

Okay, ich nehme die obige Bemerkung zurück.
