I'd rather go with this transliteration of the Russian word "Sowchos" (совхоз) since the Russian letter "x" (pronounced like "ch" in "ach" in German) is usually transcribed by "kh" in English. The transcription "ch" is common in the German Duden transliteration (der Sowchos).
Depending on the target audience for the text, I'd probably also include a brief explanation for those unfamiliar with the Soviet (planned) economy - perhaps "Kolkhozes and Sovkhozes (agricultural cooperatives and state-owned enterprises)"

The German transliteration "Sowjos" in the source text is, indeed, wrong - the "j" shouldn't be there (perhaps transcribed by a Spanish native speaker??? :-)
