What is the problem? It's late and I think I've been living in Germany too long, because I fear my version (below) is Denglish. Native speakers?
The region’s special competence profile derives from food production and fisheries, renewable energies, maritime economy, logistics, as well as pharmaceuticals/health business.

My inital note was perhaps a little hasty.

Does this not possibly venture towards another sense of 'Kompetenz'? 'Industries/sectors that particularly distinguish this region are..../Sectors for which this region is noted are...

Is it feasible that they are all skilled/brimming with expertise?
