German term or phrase: Herrgottswinkel
Austrian tradition in many provinces where in the corner above the kitchen table there is a crucifix which is decorated and/or has a candle in front of it. This is the protector of the house, the figure to which grace is said, a member of the family at table, and much more. How to put it into one or two words in English.

English translation:Leave it in German with an explanation
Explanation:
I can't imagine that you will find an exact equivalent in English (although it does call to mind the Sacred Heart in Ireland), so I would leave it in German (italicised) with a brief explanation between two dashes.

agree  writeaway: yeah-what is 'vote for good question' and where do you see the option-or is it a bug?/just looked. when I clicked on the A next to it, got this message: "Error.Did not find any info under that ID or name". weird-hope it's not really an option.

disagree  Armorel Young: a nave is part of a church. Your Biblical reference is to the "house of the Lord" - the Temple, nothing to do with a domestic dwelling house

disagree  Ian M-H (X): I cannot really imagine anyone understanding this at all - certainly not as being equivalent to Herrgottswinkel.

the Lord's corner

Explanation:
Why not? If the explanation is translated as follows in the text, this has to be the best option, IMHO
