German term or phrase: Platten- und Holzwerkstoffe
I am really stuck on these two words. They are from a job spec for a flooring designer. The company produces lamiate flooring, chipboards etc. Part of the sentence including these words is:
...gilt als einer der weltweit größten Hersteller von Platten- und Holzwerkstoffen.
Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks very much for your help!

sheet and other manufactured/engineered wood products
Explanation:
This would work; engineered wood tends to be structural such as I-beams made from wood and mostly OSB

Platten- und Holzwerkstoffen
sheet materials and timber products

Explanation:
See if this fits the context, plenty of references; I think there's a US term 'mill products' as well, but I'm plain knitting Brit Eng personally, so don't quote me

agree  Kim Metzger: Holzwerkstoffe could also be manufactured or composite wood products.

agree  gangels (X): manufacturer of wood products in sheet and composite form (but not timber, which is rough-hewn)

Platten- und Holzwerkstoffen
boarding and woodworking materials

Explanation:
Certainly for BE - we do talk of buying wooden boards and using them, amongst others, for boarding things up, like holes in walls and broken windows! As for woodworking materials, this term will allow you to cover both carpentry and joinery. According to the definition given io me by a master craftsman: carpentry = the `rough´ woodwork done on a construction site, joinery = the `fine´ woodwork done in furniture manufacture etc.
