This is from a book review. Is "genetic programme" an acceptable translation or is there a more technical term. Medicine isn't really my field! Thank you for any suggestions.

Frauen leben länger als Männer. Die Erklärung dafür ist einfach: Ihr Körper ist besser als der des Mannes. Er hat mehr Funktionen, ist anpassungsfähiger und in der Lage, **Genprogramme** zu aktivieren, die es im Körper des Mannes gar nicht gibt. Doch der weibliche Köper ist auch anfälliger gegenüber Störungen von außen.
