German term or phrase: Wanderkartothek
This is from an official document issued by the Emigration Department of the Jewish Community in Vienna in 1938, when many Austrian Jews were trying to leave the country. It is simply a heading for a box in which someone has scrawled their signature. Another box on the same form is headed "Laufkartei", for which I'm also struggling to find a suitable translation.

Asker: Both terms clearly refer to some sort of card index. If the term was "Wandererkartothek", I might be tempted to think it was something to do with emigrants, etc. as suggested by Lancashireman (thanks for posting!) However, the omission of the second "er" leads me to think it must be some sort of (mobile?) filing system. It's worth remembering that the source document was written in 1938, so I'd be very surpised if it's referring to a system that's still around today.

neutral  writeaway: Wanderkartothek, Laufkartei. imo they go together -no sign of either anywhere online. I doubt they are official names. Auswanderer isn't the same as a Wanderer.
