German term or phrase: entstehungsgeschichtlichen Zusammenhängen
I am seeking a phrase to translate "entstehungsgeschichtlichen Zusammenhängen".

The full citation is as follows:
In Zeichnungen mit naheliegenden entstehungsgeschichtlichen Zusammenhängen wie die Motivserie der „Kostüme“ konnte die Verwendung identischer oder einheitlich zusammengesetzter Zeichenmittel bzw. ähnlicher oder gleicher Papiere nachgewiesen werden.

My first attempt:
The use of identical or uniformly composed drawing media as well as similar or the same paper could be demonstrated in drawings with closely related historical origins like the series of “Costume” motifs.

English translation:closely related inception periods/background
Explanation:
..drawings which are connected by (shared) closely related inception periods/background

That would be my first stab at this..

chronologically correlated

Explanation:
In drawings hinting at a chronological correlation, for example the series of motifs featuring "costumes", we find evidence of the use of identical or uniformly composed drawing media and/or the same or similar paper stock.

Of course, the question is what are 'einheitlich zusammengesetzte Zeichenmittel.'? Are they drawing utensils or surfaces/substrates on which the drawing is done? I suspect they may mean recurring shapes/symbols that some painters use (e.g. Klee's stick figures or Matisse's arabesques).

If the Zeichenmittel are indeed (various) inks, I'd call them 'uniformly *constituted* media instead of 'composed'

etiological contexts

Explanation:
Would be the "academic" equivalent, actually also in German. There is that element of unneeded pomposity, which indeed one might wish to avoid.
