Good morning (or whatever) dear Colleagues!
The term is self-explanatory. These, however, are not 'escapees', yet. I am looking for a term that is less cumbersome than 'those eager/willing/determined to escape/flee,' and am counting on your excellent abilities to help me out. Creative suggestions are encouraged!

The context:

Wie viele andere Fluchtwillige fuhren sie dann einige Male mit der S-Bahn von der Schönhauser Allee nach Pankow und zurück, ein ganzes Stück direkt an der Grenze entlang, weil sie dachten, dass sie vielleicht in einer der Kurven, in denen die Züge langsamer fahren mussten, auf der dem Westen zugewandten Seite des Wagens abspringen könnten (2). Aber die Bahn fuhr doch zu schnell, als dass man das hätte wagen können. Und niemand wusste, wo die Grenze genau verlief. Gehörten der Bahndamm und das zweite Gleis noch zum Osten oder war man, wenn man nach dem Absprung vielleicht verletzt liegen blieb, wenigstens im Westen?
