Die Neuerbauung der Kirche in den Jahren 1708
und 1709.
Wenn die 1708 zurückgegebene Kirche, was als
ziemlich sicher anzunehmen, noch die erste in
Pawellau erbaute Kirche war, so hatte sie zur Zeit ihrer
Rückgabe gegen vierthalbhundert Jahre als Gotteshaus
gedient.
Nicht verwunderlich ist es deshalb, daß sie mit der
Länge der Zeit trotz aller Reparaturen, die mit ihr
vorgenommen worden sein mögen, doch schließlich so
baufällig geworden war, daß man mit dem Gedanken
vertraut machen mußte, sie durch eine neue zu
ersetzen.
Und da ist nun wohl vor allem der dankbaren Freunde
zuzuschreiben, welche die Pawellauer Gemeinde über
die Wiederherstellung ihres kirchlichen Lebens und die
nun wieder ermöglichte freie evangelische
Religionsübung empfand, daß jener Gedanke so bald
zum festen Entschluß und zur fröhlichen Tat wurde.

above is not known to us. We can but vividly imagine

with these prayer words, whose wonderful answered
prayers they saw now in person before their eyes, with
thanks and praise together the celebration of this first
service after thirty-seven long years and now through
the grace of God grace again had been given a place of
worship for the whole Protestant community.
B. The reconstruction of the Church in 1708 and
1709.
If the Pawellau church returned in 1707 to the original
location it was built at, which is surely reasonable to
assume, then it had served as a place of worship at that
location for about 450 years.
