German term or phrase: vorsetzlichen schahten
This phrase comes from an 1821 Last Will and Testament, filed in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. The entire passage reads:

The handwriting isn't really the problem, but the orthography is! I read the passage as: "Further, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Catarina, the full possession of all my real estate with all the buildings for her support during her natural lifetime, for as long as she lives or bears my name, so that she has the full right to take whomever she wants into the house to cultivate the land, but always with the condition that my executors have the right to prevent any ??????? of land or wood during the said time."

The word "vorsetzlichen" is written very clearly; the word "schahten" is also relatively clear, although makes no sense. The only possible variant reading would be "schaften," but the letter looks identical to all the other h's in the document. ANY SUGGESTIONS? The full text is available on Ancestry.com:

neutral  writeaway: imo this could well be Pennslyania Dutch (=Deutsch). Lehigh county had a sizeable Pa Dutch population. Not sure if it still does. Answer found elsewhere: in neighbouring Northampton county maybe?
