It turns out that this did involve "offsetting" as Phil had rightly pointed out. Initially, that thought struck me as somewhat unusual. After I completed the job and had a gas of the entire document, however, it was clear that this was "plus or minuses" relating to offset or "plus or minus offsetting". The offset involved what was essentially reimbursed to the Licensee after the Licensee made an initial payment to the Licensor. The Licensor did not participate in the initial share of sales until the Licensee's initial payment was repaid from the Licensor's normal share. The "plus or minus" had to do with offset from proceeds from other films. Offset applies only for one individual film, not for other films under the agreement. My translation ended up to be: "Beyond the cross-offset scheduled in Section 5(3) between the contractual films, the Licensee is not authorised to make plus or minus offsets between earnings from exploiting the contractual motion pictures against other films licensed by the Licensor to the Licensee." Perhaps someone may still quibble about this, but I think it renders the meaning relatively clearly, given the overall context within which this sentence fits.

But you receive income, you don't charge or invoice it. We've had verrechnen many times, and it often translates as "offset". I'm wondering whether "minder" refers to losses.

I'm pretty certain that this instance does not involve "offsetting". It is being used more in the sense of "charging" or even "invoicing" as per Romain/Byrd/Thielecke Wörterbuch der Rechts- und Wirtschaftssprache 4. Auflage. The "Mehr- oder Minder" is my sticking point, too.

Verrechnen is to offset, though I don't understand enough of the context to know why it's prefixed with Mehr- oder Minder.
