Explanation:
I really don't see that the sentence makes sense if "zufloge" is interpreted as "following". I know the "Bild" has something of a reputation, but would its readers really be exchanging macabre photographs?

According to Duden, the postposition/preposition "zufolge" can also mean "laut", "nach", etc., and the only example quoted is "einem Gerücht zufolge...". So, what is dexcribed in the sentence is something which is happening according to the report in the "Bild". This is clearly a trade/exchange in macabre photographs.

For the benefit of non-native English speakers, I would point out that it is idiomatic to use the word "trade" for exchanging things like pictures. "Swap" is also possible (as a verb), but not as a noun (except, like "exchange" for a single transaction). There is no suggestion of anything other than exchanging in expressions like "a trade in macabre photographs", whereas "an exchange in macabre photogrphs" makes no sense, and "an exchange of macabre photographs" would refer to a single transaction.
