German term or phrase: derer
Noblesse oblige - von wegen: Das Adelsgeschlecht derer von Spee entpuppt sich in Geldangelegenheiten als wenig vornehm. Vor einem US-Gericht streiten die Verwandten ums Familienerbe. Es geht um eine Viertelmilliarde Euro und schwierige Rechtsfragen

Can somebody help explain the function of "derer" in the sentence: Das Adelsgeschlecht derer von Spee entpuppt sich in Geldangelegenheiten als wenig vornehm. Is the sentence grammatically correct?

Thank you in advance!

the noble family of Spee

Explanation:
Siehe z. B.:

The noble family of Alba is an aristocratic family of Spanish origin who can trace back their ancestry to 1429, when the first “Alba” was made “Lord of the City of Alba de Tormes”. In 1492, it was a member of this family, the second Duke of Alba who sign the capitulation of the city of Granada.

This is what Collins English dictionary says: noble - of or relating to a hereditary class with special status, often derived from a feudal period.

It's really just a 'posh' way of saying 'das Adelsgeschlecht von ..."
