Is there something missing from this sentence? I can't understand it from "die und das" onwards - or rather how the clauses fit together.

I think there's just a comma missing - the part of the sentence in question should read

"... effizientere Produktion die, und das verstehe ich sehr gut, in Zukunft ..." (alternatively, a dash could be placed there.

So the sentence would be "...a more efficient production which, as I can perfectly understand, blablabla moved to China"

I am afraid you will definitely have to ask your client, as there are several ways to confer (different!) meanings to this sentence.
Either, it is sort of a cut-and-paste error, where "die man" was moved from the middle to the first part of the sentence, while "die" remained inadvertently in its first place: "...es gibt noch viele Punkte für eine schnellere und effizientere Produktion, die man - und das verstehe ich sehr gut - in Zukunft auch in China... einsetzen muss" --> "...es gibt noch viele Punkte, die man für eine schnellere und effizientere Produktion - und das verstehe ich sehr gut - in Zukunft auch in China einsetzen muss". ("einsetzen" = make use of, apply)
Or: "die man" is altogether superfluous, leaving something like: "...es gibt noch viele Punkte für eine schnellere und effizientere Produktion, die - und das verstehe ich sehr gut - in Zukunft... auch in China einsetzen muss". (einsetzen = start)
